Thursday and Friday- We are finishing our unit on Places and Regions with a summative Postcard Project. Students will create postcards where the front picture represents the cultural landscape and the back has a letter to their teacher describing the characteristics of a place. ![]()

1. students will read pages 28-32; 127-132
2. for each section (written in red) students will A. write out the vocab in this section B. write a 1-3 sentence summary of the section C. choose a "Strategy" for each section. Can only use each strategy 2 times. Strategies: - sketch - graph -chart -map - poem -new title -what if ______________ happened - question you have about topic of reading - new title for section - connection to real life -in my experience -____________ is like ___________ because 1) Photo org: A. Students will be given a folder with pictures to classify into regions. They will work in groups of 3-4 to come up with the 4 regions and to write down their explanation of their categories in 2 sentences each on butcher paper. They will have 10 minutes to look at their photos, come up with the categories, and write explanations. 2) Notes over regions and characteristics of a place. 3) students will look at the pictures again and try to sort them using their new information. - After, the students will do a gallery walk. They will look over other group’s categories and note any similarities, differences or changes they would make to the groups categories and pictures on the butcher paper with their groups color marker. ![]()
Students will read ch 9 in their Jarrett books and answer the questions.
